There are many NATURAL and EFFECTIVE ways

to promote health and prevent the flu!


1. At least 5 a day the colorful way!
Fruits and vegetables are rich in vitamins, minerals and fiber that help the body and the immune system to function effectively.

2. Take Vitamin D
A clinical trial led by Mitsuyoshi Urashima and conducted by the Division of Molecular Epidemiology in the the Department of Pediatrics at the Jikei University School of Medicine Minato-ku in Tokyo found that vitamin D was extremely effective at halting influenza infections in children. 3. Exercise
Exercising for 30 to 60 minutes daily can give your immune system the extra kick that it needs. A study conducted by David Nieman at Appalachian State University found that people who walked regularly for 12 weeks had half the number of colds and sore throats as people who were less active.

4. Wash your hands
A strong immune system should be able to combat the flu virus, but washing your hands frequently can increase your health odds even more. Use warm water and soap and avoid touching your mouth, nose and eyes to prevent the virus from entering your system.

5. Stay hydrated
The human body is made up primarily of water. In fact, approximately 75 percent of your body is water and 25 percent is solid matter. Water is essential for absorbing nutrients, eliminating waste, cellular activity and all of the actions necessary for life. Drinking enough water is vital for preventing disease and enjoying a sense of well-being.

6. Sleep Well
Getting a good night’s sleep is essential for the immune system to recharge itself. An overly fatigued body doesn’t have the necessary strength to fight off infections. Just as inadequate rest increases your chances of getting the flu, adequate rest improves your chances of a fast recovery. Rest is very very important.

7. Chill Out
It has been estimated that 90 percent of illness and disease is stress related. Stress increases your risks of the flu, but also your risks of more serious ailments like cancer and heart disease. There are many many ways to deal with stress - prayer and meditation, relaxation exercises, a walk in the park, listening to soothing music, playing with children, counseling, engaging in a hobby, etc. Find the ways that suit you best.

8. Limit Simple Sugar
Sugar depresses immune function, particularly the ability of immune cells to destroy bacteria and viruses. This effect kicks in about one to two hours after taking sugar, and it lasts for up to five hours. So if you take sugar several times a day, your immune system will be depressed throughout most of the day.

9. Use garlic
Garlic has wide-ranging antiviral and antibiotic properties. It destroys viruses and bacteria without harmful side effects. Cooked is okay, raw garlic is best!

10. STAY WELL ADJUSTED!

In fact, a 2008 study published in Chiropractic and Osteopathy (http://www.chiroandosteo.com/content/16/1/5) showed that following a single spinal manipulative treatment (adjustment), interleukin-2 (IL-2) increased significantly when tested both 20 minutes and 2 hours post-treatment. IL-2 is a immune system signaling molecule that is instrumental in the body's natural response to microbial infection and in discriminating between foreign (non-self) and self.
